The handling of huge amounts of development data in the E/E development cycle is an ongoing challenge for the engineering community (E-PDM). Especially the automatic maintenance of traceability through all process steps is almost nowhere state of the art. At the same time distributed over many development sites with support of versioning, check-in/out as well as resource efficiency. A solution for all these requirements seems not easy to find. However, there are solutions available on the market. If you are interested, just contact me for an introduction of some very interesting approaches.
